The School Run

I did the school run, so what I hear you say. 

Well, it was only about the 6th time in my life and the second time for this generation. 

So much has changed in the world since I last walked to school. But today I was skipping along with a member of reception class avoiding the lines and cracks on the path, jumping over drains and manhole covers and everything we talked about was greeted with a big smile illumining the world.
 
But in the back of my mind, all the way was the time and getting back to collect the car and make it to my morning meeting. 

What did I learn from this 

• How does anyone do this every day, sometimes twice a day with pick up too? 
• How much stress is there with one eye on the clock during key parts of the day?  
• How can I manifest the joy of a child every day?  
• Do I appreciate the lack of stress to get myself out of the house, without having to worry about others? 

As a coach, consultant and people manager, I go forward into 2023 with a new empathy for anyone who has to balance these two lives.  

I never had the joy of being a mother, (my choice not looking for sympathy). I hope everyone can find the ability to skip to work with the joy of a child who loves school and can speed down the road on their favourite scooter. (with their favourite great Aunt)
