​When the talent crunch meets the budget crunch! 

Most days in the media and on social media I read and hear about the talent crunch,  and how it is impacting all sectors, especially Corporate Travel.  So many of our previous fabulous colleagues who took such a hit over the last two years now know their skills are totally transferable and are enjoying new lives in other sectors.  

Is the answer really in the recruitment process? Especially after hearing the debates about salary transparency,  criteria miss match, skill set, ageism and the back to the office or hybrid working debates. 

Who is suffering,  feeling the impact the most or even if it’s not too dramatic the victim?   The customer or end-user who is not seeing the pre-pandemic levels of service,  turnaround times and return on investment. 

The solution (or even a temporary one) could be short term outsourcing, 

Why not outsource and contract for what you need,   an account manager for 1 client, 1 day, 1 project or 1 month while a new FTE is recruited and trained. A data analyst for that one big excel document you have not got time to focus on and would take you all weekend to summarise the facts and figures. 

Advantages of outsourcing include:

•    You get a subject matter expert 
•   It's cheaper than employing a FTE – as you are usually only paying for them when they are busy 
•    Your data is safe as you should sign an NDA
•  Team members are usually self-employed are passionate,  self-motivated and enthusiastic 
•    May be available at short notice 
•    They may have contacts for you in terms of potential new staff or leads for clients. 

Next time you need an extra pair of hands with skills you are missing in your team,   reach out.
